On or about May 18, 2025, Benworth Capital Partners, a hard money/mortgage lender, experienced a cybersecurity incident that directly impacted its systems. This direct cyberattack compromised personal information, resulting in a data breach.
Confirmed data types exposed include borrower names, addresses, taxpayer identification numbers (including Social Security numbers), phone numbers, loan account numbers, loan amounts, and loan details such as maturity/closing dates. The breach primarily affected approximately 22,250 individuals in Texas and an additional 108 individuals in Montana. It has been confirmed that SSNs and loan account numbers were involved in the compromise. The company began notifying affected individuals on September 16, 2025, nearly four months after the breach occurred, and regulators in Texas and Montana were also notified on this date.
