Advantage Home Care discovered unauthorized access to one of its computer servers on June 16, 2026. The investigation revealed that a third party had gained access to the server as early as June 9, 2026, and acquired documents containing sensitive information. On July 17, 2026, the ransomware group "The Gentlemen" claimed responsibility for the attack and threatened to publish stolen data.
The breach exposed the first and last names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, addresses, phone numbers, information about medical conditions and care received, and for employees, information about employment and health plan information, impacting approximately 19,851 individuals. The company reported that it was not aware of fraud resulting from the incident. The full scope of affected individuals across all states has not been publicly detailed, though at least one Massachusetts resident was affected.
Breach reporting and consumer notification letters began around August 25, 2026. Advantage Home Care offered 12 months of credit monitoring, a credit report, credit score, and cyber-monitoring services through Cyberscout. Details can emerge later, and notices may be delayed.
