Georgia Heritage Federal Credit Union (GHFCU) experienced a ransomware attack on or about January 25, 2025. The credit union is a member-owned institution in the Savannah, Georgia area. The breach was discovered around February 10, 2025, and notifications to affected individuals began on January 15, 2026.
The compromised data included names, addresses, dates of birth, driver's license/state ID numbers, passport details, Foreign National ID Numbers, Social Insurance Numbers, Social Security numbers, financial account information, employment-related information, health/medical information, personal email addresses, and phone numbers. The incident affected 43,077 individuals nationwide, including residents in Georgia, South Carolina, Maine, and New Hampshire. GHFCU offered 12 months of free credit monitoring via Experian to those affected.
