Georgia Heritage Federal Credit Union (FCU) reported a hacking-related data incident that occurred on January 25, 2025. The credit union discovered the breach on February 10, 2025, and subsequently engaged a data mining vendor for an investigation. Notifications to affected individuals were sent via first-class mail on January 15, 2026.
The breach affected 43,077 individuals and exposed various types of personal information, including names, addresses, dates of birth, driver's license information, employment information, financial account information, Foreign National ID Numbers, health-related information, passport details, personal email addresses, phone numbers, Social Insurance Numbers, Social Security numbers, and government IDs. Identity protection services, including 12 months of CyEx Financial Shield Complete with Experian credit monitoring, were offered to those affected. While the bulk of affected individuals are in Georgia, the incident also impacted residents in South Carolina, Texas, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Indiana.
