Dordt University experienced a data breach that occurred between April 21, 2024, and May 16, 2024. The university confirmed that a restricted amount of data was potentially accessed and acquired from its network. The forensic investigation was completed on June 19, 2025, confirming data exposure. The official notice was sent to affected individuals on July 11, 2025.
This incident affected 34,251 individuals. The exposed data types include Social Security numbers (SSNs), medical information, health insurance data, driver’s license numbers, financial account and routing numbers, names, dates of birth, usernames, and passwords. The university has not confirmed whether a ransom was demanded or paid.
