AssuranceAmerica Managing General Agency, LLC detected suspicious activity on its systems on March 17, 2026, which was identified as a malicious attack. This incident, occurring around March 16–17, 2026, resulted in unauthorized third-party access to their internal systems, necessitating system shutdowns, enhanced monitoring, and password resets. Law enforcement was also notified.
The breach exposed names, contact information, automobile insurance policy and account details, driver and vehicle information, claims-related information, driver’s license numbers, Tax ID information, and Social Security numbers. While 611,046 individuals in South Carolina are confirmed to be affected, a total national impact of hundreds of thousands more is estimated. There is no confirmed protected health information (PHI) involved. AssuranceAmerica has issued notification letters and is offering 12 months of complimentary credit and identity protection services via IDX.
