Alpine Agency of the Midlands, LLC, an independent health and benefits insurance agency in Camden, South Carolina, discovered unusual activity in one of its email accounts in November 2025. An investigation revealed that unauthorized access to the account began on or about October 28, 2025. The company secured the account and engaged independent cybersecurity specialists to assess the situation. The investigation determined that an unauthorized third party may have accessed and/or downloaded emails and attachments from the affected account. The breach potentially exposed sensitive personally identifiable information, including first and last names, dates of birth, addresses, health insurance information, and Social Security numbers. Approximately 500 individuals were affected. Alpine Agency reported the incident to federal regulators on July 13, 2026, and is considered a business associate in the healthcare sector due to its handling of protected health information.
